Where this technique sits among the others There are four hair-stroke techniques, ordered from the oldest to the most natural-looking: microblading (a manual blade — the classic technique), then nano blading (the same principle with a finer needle), then micropigmentation (newer than both, and closer to natural), and finally the fiber technique (the most natural-looking of them all). The price follows that order: JOD 180, then 180, then 200, then 250. Powder brows sit outside this ladder, because they are dots rather than hair strokes.

What is microblading?

Microblading is hand-drawn work: I open a very fine incision in the surface layer of the skin with a thin blade and deposit pigment in it. Each incision becomes a hairstroke, with a direction, length and curve that follow how your own hair grows in that exact spot.

That is why the brow reads as strokes rather than shading: up close you see the hairs, and from a distance you see a fuller, natural brow.

A single stroke: its direction and length follow natural growth.

Who it suits

  • Normal to dry skin. The incision stays fine and holds its edge.
  • Anyone wanting visible strokes on normal to dry skin.
  • Sparse brows or brows with gaps that need filling rather than rebuilding.

And who it does not suit, said before booking

  • Oily or combination skin. Oil pushes pigment out of the incision, the edges spread, and within months the brow becomes a soft shadow. Better: powder brows or micropigmentation.
  • A brow with an old tattoo. A fine stroke will not cover old pigment, so it is lightened first with removal sessions.
  • Certain medical conditions. We go through these in the consultation first.
Why I say no Microblading on oily skin means paying twice: once now, and again for the correction months later. Turning the case down is cheaper for you than taking it.

How the session goes

  1. Consultation: skin type, any previous work, and what you want.
  2. Measuring and mapping: I draw the shape on your face to measurement, and I do not begin until you see it in the mirror and agree.
  3. Choosing the pigment against your skin and hair tone.
  4. Numbing, then the work itself.
  5. Aftercare: ointment and written instructions before you leave.

Aftercare

  • Seven days: no water directly on the brow.
  • Two weeks: no pool, sea, sauna or hard exercise.
  • Do not pick the flakes — they pull pigment out and leave permanent gaps.
  • The colour looks dark in the first week, then lightens. Do not judge the result before healing completes.

What does microblading look like after a week, a month and a year?

  • After a week: the brow is darker and sharper than the final result, and may be dry or lightly flaking. Many clients worry the colour will stay like this; it is a normal part of healing and it will not.
  • After a month: the colour settles clearly, becoming lighter, softer and more natural, and you see something close to the final result.
  • After a year: the colour has faded a lot, because microblading lasts 3 to 9 months. How long it holds depends on skin type, sun exposure and aftercare, and the brow may need a refresh session.

Is microblading haram?

Many clients ask this before booking. Dr. Muhammad Dhawi Al-Usaimi answered that microblading is permissible, with no harm in it, because it is not a permanent tattoo but fades after months like makeup, and because it is superficial and does not reach the dermis. Watch his full answer on YouTube (Arabic). This is his view on microblading specifically; anyone wanting certainty should ask a scholar she trusts.

Frequently asked

Is microblading halal or haram?
Dr. Muhammad Dhawi Al-Usaimi was asked about microblading for the brows and said it is permissible, with no harm in it, giving two reasons: it is not a permanent tattoo but fades after months, making it closer to makeup; and it is superficial, not reaching the dermis that a tattoo reaches. He added that it is closer to a treatment that corrects a defect when brow hair has fallen out. This is his view on microblading specifically; anyone wanting certainty should ask a scholar she trusts.
Is microblading a tattoo?
Not in the usual sense of a tattoo. In microblading the pigment sits in the superficial layer of the skin, not the deep layer a tattoo reaches, so it fades within 3 to 9 months instead of lasting for years. For the same reason, Dr. Muhammad Dhawi Al-Usaimi said it is not a tattoo.
What does microblading look like after a week and after a year?
After a week the brow is darker and sharper than the final result, with some dryness or light flaking, which is normal during healing. After a month the colour settles, lighter and more natural. After a year it has faded a lot, because microblading lasts 3 to 9 months, and it may need a refresh depending on skin, sun and aftercare.
Does microblading affect wudu (ablution)?
In microblading the pigment sits inside the superficial layer of the skin, not on top of it, so it forms no barrier on the surface the way nail polish does, and water reaches the skin once healed. Dr. Muhammad Dhawi Al-Usaimi said microblading is permissible. For the first seven days after the session, direct water on the brow is avoided, so anyone wanting the ruling for those days should ask a scholar she trusts.
Where can I get microblading if I live in Zarqa, Irbid or Salt?
Many clients of the Alaa Al Masri studio in Abdoun, Amman come from Zarqa, Irbid, Salt and Madaba. Approximate driving time: Zarqa 40 minutes, Salt and Madaba about 45 minutes, Irbid an hour and a half. The session takes about 90 minutes, so it is done the same day, with follow-up over WhatsApp.
What are fibrows?
Fibrows is a style of microblading strokes, so microblading's terms apply: 3 to 9 months of wear, and not suited to oily skin. It is not the fiber technique, which is a different technique lasting one to three years and suiting every skin type.
How much does microblading cost in Amman?
180 Jordanian dinars at the Alaa Al Masri studio in Abdoun, Amman, covering the consultation and the shape design before we begin.
How long does microblading last?
Three to nine months. It varies with skin type, sun exposure, peels, and how fast your skin renews itself.
Is microblading good for oily skin?
No. Oil pushes pigment out of the incision, the strokes spread, and the brow fades into a soft shadow. Powder brows or micropigmentation suit oily skin better.
Is microblading painful?
A topical numbing agent is used, and most clients describe a light scratching sensation rather than pain.
How long is a microblading session?
About 90 minutes, because it includes the consultation, the shape design and numbing time before the work itself.
Can microblading be done over an old tattoo?
Usually not: a fine stroke will not cover old pigment. The brow is lightened first with removal sessions, or micropigmentation is used, which does work over previous work.
