What are powder brows?

Powder brows do not draw hair strokes: the machine places pigment as fine dots packed closely together to fill the whole brow. That is why it works for a brow with no hair at all, where there are no hairs for new strokes to be built on.

Why it suits very oily skin best

A microblading stroke is a fine incision, and on oily skin the oil pushes pigment out of it, so the edge spreads and the line turns into a shadow.

Powder is dots, not lines. There is no fine edge to spread and no line to lose its definition, so the result stays readable even after it loses some colour.

In short Microblading does not suit oily skin. If your skin is very oily or your brows have no hair, powder brows; if you want hair strokes, micropigmentation or the fiber technique both suit oily skin.

Who it suits

  • Very oily skin — its first reason to exist.
  • Brows with no hair, or very sparse brows that need rebuilding rather than gap filling.

How the session goes

  1. Consultation, checking your skin type and brows.
  2. Measuring and mapping on the face; I do not begin before you approve it in the mirror.
  3. Choosing the pigment shade with you.
  4. Numbing, then placing the dots with the machine.
  5. Written aftercare with the ointment.

Aftercare

  • Seven days: no water directly on the brow.
  • Two weeks: no pool, sea, sauna or hard exercise.
  • Do not pick the flakes.
  • The colour deepens first, then lightens over about two weeks.

Are powder brows haram?

Dr. Muhammad Dhawi Al-Usaimi said of microblading that it is permissible, with no harm in it, because it is not a permanent tattoo and does not reach the dermis (his answer on YouTube, Arabic). Powder brows share both points: the pigment sits in the superficial layer and does not reach the dermis, and it fades within about a year. They differ only in appearance — dots rather than hair strokes. This is his view on microblading specifically; anyone wanting certainty should ask a scholar she trusts.

Frequently asked

How much do powder brows cost in Amman?
150 Jordanian dinars at the Alaa Al Masri studio in Abdoun, Amman, covering the consultation and the shape design before we begin.
How long do powder brows last?
About a year, varying with skin type, sun exposure and peels.
Are powder brows good for oily skin?
Yes, and they are the first choice for very oily skin. Powder is dots rather than a fine line, so its edges do not spread with oil the way microblading strokes do.
What is the difference between powder brows and microblading?
Microblading is hand-drawn strokes made with a blade and suits normal to dry skin. Powder brows are fine dots packed closely together by machine, for very oily skin and for brows with no hair.
Who are powder brows for?
Very oily skin, and brows with no hair or very sparse brows that need a full rebuild. If you want hair strokes on oily skin, micropigmentation or the fiber technique suit it.
