Where this technique sits among the others There are four hair-stroke techniques, ordered from the oldest to the most natural-looking: microblading (a manual blade — the classic technique), then nano blading (the same principle with a finer needle), then micropigmentation (newer than both, and closer to natural), and finally the fiber technique (the most natural-looking of them all). The price follows that order: JOD 180, then 180, then 200, then 250. Powder brows sit outside this ladder, because they are dots rather than hair strokes.

What is micropigmentation?

A permanent brow technique, newer than microblading: very fine hair strokes that mimic natural hair, drawn one at a time by a fine needle on a machine, looking more natural than microblading strokes. The procedure is superficial and done under topical numbing, and it lasts longer than classic microblading.

The key difference from microblading is under the skin: microblading opens an incision with a blade, micropigmentation does not cut the skin. No incision means no edges to spread, which is why it suits skin microblading does not, and lasts longer.

Who it suits

  • Oily or combination skin, where microblading strokes spread within months.
  • A brow with previous work, once the old colour is lightened enough.
  • Anyone wanting longer wear than the three to nine months microblading gives.
Want the most natural result? The fiber technique is the newest and most natural: fine strokes drawn one at a time, suiting every skin type and lasting one to three years.

How the session goes

  1. Consultation: skin type, any previous work, and what you want.
  2. Measuring and mapping: I draw the shape on your face, and nothing begins until you see it in the mirror and approve it.
  3. Choosing the pigment to match your skin and hair.
  4. Topical numbing, then drawing the hair strokes with the machine.
  5. Instructions: ointment and written aftercare before you leave.

Aftercare

  • Seven days: no water directly on the brow.
  • Two weeks: no pool, sea, sauna or hard exercise.
  • Do not pick the flakes, they pull pigment out with them.
  • The colour looks dark in the first week, then softens. Do not judge the result before healing is complete.

What does micropigmentation look like after a month?

In the first week the colour is darker than the final result, then it settles, softer and more natural. After a month you see something close to the final result — see a healed first micropigmentation session in Medium brown on Instagram.

Is micropigmentation haram?

Dr. Muhammad Dhawi Al-Usaimi said of microblading that it is permissible, with no harm in it, because it is not a permanent tattoo and does not reach the dermis (his answer on YouTube, Arabic). Micropigmentation is similar in that the pigment sits in the upper layer of the skin and does not reach the dermis, but it lasts longer: one to two years. Anyone wanting certainty should ask a scholar she trusts.
